  • May 26, 2021

The Kabadiwala is a doorstep service that helps people to sell their household junk and other waste materials, and get paid for it .
This waste management startup was founded by Anurag Asatian( an IT engineer ) and Kavindra Raghuwanshi in 2013, with the aim to resolve garbage disposal problems in Bhopal.

Kabadiwala provides doorstep free service that helps people to sell their waste material, and pays for waste by weight. Waste is then segregated and further sent to recycling plants for free.

Anurag thought –” wouldn’t it be great if this whole process to find a Kabadiwla and sell them the junk was just a phone call away? Or it would be a lot better if it can be booked online at our own convenience?
It was then that Anurag decided to start The Kabadiwala in Bhopal as a doorstep service to help people sell their household junk like newspaper, iron, plastic, books, metal items, etc. and get paid for it. It is intended to recycle, reuse, reduce, upcycle, and resell.

It’s business structure is based on B2B and B2C. It collects over 100+ Tonnes of waste per month, and serves over 50,000 registered users and handles over 100 customers every day. There are 10,000+ people who have given away the waste via their website.
Further, a step in their success, the Kabadiwala has extended their startup from Indore to Raipur, Aurangabad, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and many more.
With the team of 25+ employees, the startup has raised Rs 3 crores funding from early-stage investors, like HNIs, and other senior industry professionals. These funds are further uses to improve the technology, Help kabadiwala to expand their business in multiple locations and strengthen them.

The Kabadiwala has been running a campaign on “Raddi se Library”, converting waste into artefacts, and now venturing into e-waste recycling as well. This is a great initiative by them and now they are now working to provide their smart waste solution to other Tier-I, II, and III cities.
