Kumar Pallana Valavhadas Indian-american actor and vaudeville.

Born on 22 Dec 1918 in Indore, Kumar Pallana went to Mumbai to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. But, he never got a chance to show his talent.

Kumar performed on the Mickey Mouse Club as a plate spinner and juggler and singer across India and Africa. He settled in U.S around 1940 and continue to perform in the country and had appeared on popular American shows like
‘Captain Kangaroo’ and ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’. He also performed in Las Vegas and at other venues across the U.S.

In 1966, he settled in Dallas with his family and started a Yoga studio to support his family which continued for the next 30 years. His son, Dipak Pallana, created, owned and operated a cafe called the Cosmic Cup (now Cosmic Cafe ) in Kumar’s home town of Dallas, where Kumar met director Wes Anderson and actor Owen Wilson. At the age of 77 ,Pallan was, subsequently cast by Anderson in his films Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited. He acted alongside Tom Hanks in Steven Spielberg’s film ‘The Terminal’. Pallana appeared in Bollywood movies also like Anjaana Anjaani and Another Earth. Pallana acted in around 30 films in his acting career but eventually died on 10 October 2013 at the age of 94.
